To end out our senior shout-outs, we are featuring our floor captain, Gracie! We appreciate the knowledge of the game that she brings to the team. She is always up for trying new rotations/offenses and working with the hitters to encourage them to realize their full potential. She has also used her role as captain to push the younger athletes to higher levels, and in a way, really leaving behind her legacy of her love for the game. Thank you for all you bring to the team, Gracie! Here's more about Gracie: How long have you played volleyball? I have played volleyball for 9 years. I started playing AAU in the 4th grade and then started playing school ball in 5th grade. I have also travelled with my AAU team to Las Vegas’s In It To Win It and the Phoenix Volleyfest. What do you love about volleyball? I love the community that can come with volleyball. The people that you play with can make the game ten times better, and you can build all kinds of relationships. I also just love the game. What advice would you give younger players? The advice I would like to pass on to younger players is to be coachable and form a love for the game. Even if the love is for the people you meet in it or if it is for the actual game. I have found love for people who compete with me and the game.

Senior Week, Day 3! Today, we are featuring Jonae! We appreciate Jonae's competitive edge and how she's always looking for ways for our team to increase our chances for success. Jonae has played a few positions for us throughout the last two seasons, but ultimately found a solid home at middle where she gets the job done! Here's more about Jonae: How long have you played volleyball? I've been playing since fifth grade so counting my senior year, eight years. What do you love about playing volleyball? I love playing because it's fun when it gets competitive. It's also a team working sport, so the more me and my team build trust amongst each other, the better our goals and outcomes become. What advice would you like to pass on to younger players? The advice I would pass onto younger players is to not give up even when it gets emotionally and physically hard, especially on your teammates. And to be very open to new positions and try your very best at each one. Each game will not go the way you want them to be but be open-minded not only to yourself but your team and coaches. It's very important to be a coachable player as well, it builds a lot of character and an athlete as well. And overall just have fun!!

Senior Week continues! Today, we are featuring Emma. We were excited that Emma came back for her senior year. We appreciate Emma's growth mindset, as she is always wanting to learn how to do something better and with more accuracy. She is a great role model for our younger players. Thanks for all you bring to the team! Here's more about Emma: How long have you played volleyball? I’ve played volleyball for 5 years (with a break in junior year). What do you love about volleyball? I love the team aspect of the game and how we all have to work together to get what we want. What advice would you like to pass on to younger players? My advice would be that volleyball takes patience, you won’t be able to perfectly pass the first ball you ever touch, and you won’t be able to hit the 10ft line every time. When you put in the practice, you’ll see the results and that time comes with patience.

It's Senior Week! The volleyball coaches are excited to highlight their senior athletes. Today, we are featuring Natalie. We appreciate the adaptability and leadership qualities she brings to our team. Any job needed on the court, she is willing to step up and help handle. From setter to hitter to libero, Natalie finds joy in playing every position. Thank you for all you bring to the team, Natalie! Here is a bit more about Natalie: What do you love about playing volleyball? Volleyball is a very organic game. It changes every play, every practice, every ball, and with every player. That’s what I love about it. For me, it’s hard to overthink volleyball, because there is no time for it. You have to be in the moment to play volleyball, what’s not to love about being in the moment? How long have you been playing? I have been playing since my 5th grade year. So counting this year, 8 years. What advice would you like to pass on to younger players? If I could pass on advice to younger players, it would be to be organic with the game. I’ve played every position and found joy in all of them, had different coaches and had fun with all of them, and played with different girls and loved each of them. It’s so much better to be happy about what you have been given, then sad about what you are missing. Find joy in everything, and love everyone around you.

Wind River High School Student Council wants to thank you for all your help in contributing to Homecoming 2024! It was a great week full of laughter, fun, crazy outfits, silly games, food, interactions, athletics, heart, music, and.... MEMORIES. What a great community we have here at Wind River; it takes a village to pull homecoming off. A special thanks to some outstanding contributors: Riverton Country Club (donating the use of golf carts) Pepsi Bottling Group (donating pop and water for the community BBQ) Pavillion Volunteer Fire Department (being present at our WR burning) Various Hotels around Fremont County (donation of sheets for WR burning) Greg Scott (SRO who was present at EVERY event) Alan Sinner Photography (present for photos at the homecoming dance) Justin Walker and Dee Harrison (amazing, supportive administration being present at our events and assisting with all activities and games, helping things run smoothly) Kelli Walker, Shino David, Trish Wederski, and Mara Mills (BEST community BBQ servers EVER) Gary Hamlin and Curtis Hennrich (helping with facilities set up/take down for all the weeks' events) FULL CUSTODIAL STAFF (helping clean up from the weeks' events, even at late hours of the night) Michael Adams and the band/drumline (playing at coronation, volleyball, and football games) Madison David (assistance with getting social media posts out to the community) Scott Groenke and Joel Harms (hosted an excellent fun run for a great cause) Lacy Nichols and Jessie David (incredibly wonderful office ladies that helped with a million miscellaneous tasks for the dance, parade, football halftime, and more) There are dozens of additional individuals that were incredibly helpful not listed here. This includes all of the families and businesses that donated vehicles and trailers for use in the parade, showing up to drive those vehicles, having additional floats in the parade, those of you that showed up to watch parade and/or coronation, students helping contribute the BBQ, fans showing gup to the volleyball games and football games to support our athletes, and more...THANK YOU to you all! -- Wind River High School Student Council
