Wind River Middle School students are studying the Holocaust starting with informational text and then moving into book studies that blend the historical pieces from the ushmm.com website and the ELA standard that focuses on themes in literature. Pictured are the books that each grade is studying.
Why study the Holocaust? "Although unique in time and place, the Holocaust was nonetheless a human event that raises challenging questions: about individual and collective responsibility, the meaning of active citizenship, and about the structures and societal norms that can become dangerous for certain groups and society as a whole" (IHRA)
We encourage you to check in with your child(ren) on their classes. Did you know that extensive studies have shown that the more parents engage in at-home conversations with their children about what they are learning, the more they achieve in school?

The 7th grade STEM classes are using various types of modeling and design processes to produce a three-dimensional puzzle cube. They will make use of scrap hardwood blocks that are left over from furniture production. The students are currently working on their prototypes.

Middle School Track Managers, Kimber Spens and Crimson Tarness have spent the last two days of practice working on the final patches of the track that needed snow removal. Their work left half the track completely bare and usable for the team to have outdoor practice. Thanks for all of your work! We appreciate you!

Senior Wylie Shearer has participated in basketball. He lettered in basketball and was selected All Conference and All State.
Wylie is a true asset to our school community. He is a very kind young man who supports those around him. Wylie has gotten a head start in college by taking college-level courses. He’s also a leader on the basketball team and is a role model for younger students. We are grateful and proud to have him as a Wind River Cougar! Although he hasn’t chosen a school yet, he plans to attend college and play basketball at the collegiate level.
Outside of school Wylie enjoys rodeoing.
