On Saturday, February 28th, our top eight scoring mathematicians from the practice competitions represented our school at the Chapter Competition in Casper. Despite significantly increased competition, our team demonstrated growth as they scored significantly higher than any previous years, narrowly missing State qualification by a mere 0.5 or 1/2 point depending on how you want to represent it.
While the team competition was decided by the thinnest of margins, two of our students earned individual honors and advanced to the State Competition:
Eddy Beutler: 1st Place (Individual Qualifier)
Tyson Groenke: 3rd Place (Individual Qualifier)
The State Competition which was held on Saturday proved to be a great challenge. While official rankings outside the top eight are not released, both Eddy and Tyson engaged in a set of problems that coaches across the region noted were significantly more difficult than in previous years.
A Season of Growth: For the first time, all four members of our top team (Berkeley Beutler, Eddy Beutler, Tyson Groenke and Zoey Klein) achieved individual scores in the 20s at some point during the season—a testament to their hard work and improvement as math students.
Beyond the numbers: I am incredibly proud of the respect, mindset, and effort these students displayed at these traveling academic competitions.
Special Thanks: A huge thank you to Mrs. Stoldt for helping at the practice competitions when numbers and energy were high, Ms. Sally for helping set up our first ever home competition, Mr. Dean who made the top performer plaque, and to Ms. Cottrill and Mr. Mulholland for sharing their expertise on several of the more advanced mathematical topics.
MathCounts season is officially over but Wind River Mathletes will have one more chance to compete as the CWC math competition will be on April 14th. Go Cougars!

Good Morning Cougar Nation!
Today is the first day of HS Track! Reminder that if your child and yourself have NOT ATTENDED a mandatory Activities Meeting with the AD this year, I will schedule one next week. This is a requirement for HS athletes only, but Yth/JH Athletes are encouraged to attend as well.
Yth/JH Track Begins March 16th! - Yth/JH Track Schedule 2026

The Wind River Wrestling team took on the best in the state during the High School Wrestling State Finals hosted in Casper, Wyoming. The girls are not split up into classes like the boys, so it truly is the best in the state out of all females in that weight class. The boys competed in the 2A Wrestling State Championships.
For every one of them, this was their first time earning a place at the state tournament… and that makes it even sweeter. Watching your hard work, dedication, and perseverance pay off on that stage was something we won’t forget.
Congratulations to:
Aspen Beutler– 6th place at 115
Talon Walker– 3rd place at 106
Isaiah Remacle– 6th place at 175
Logan Jensen– 5th place at 190

Thursday, March 12th from 5:45 to 7:30 pm.
Join us for games , activities and a light meal

The State Tournament runs February 26th–28th, and we would love to see — or hear — your support for these incredible young men and women this weekend! They have worked tirelessly to sharpen their skills, push their limits, and prepare for this moment. Now it’s time to go toe-to-toe with the best and see where their hard work takes them!
The MS/HS will hold a school send-off for the team at 3:25 p.m., and wrestling families and friends will gather for an additional send-off at 6:00 p.m.
If you have time, come out and cheer them on, give a wave, share some encouraging words — or support them in spirit. Let’s send them off with pride, energy, and Wind River strength!

Each wrestler is presenting their singlet to a staff member who has meant the most to them during their time in our schools — someone who supported them, encouraged them, challenged them, and believed in them when it mattered most.
This gesture is more than recognition… It is gratitude.
To those being honored — thank you. Your influence reaches far beyond the classroom, the hallway, or the school day. You help shape character, build confidence, and leave a lasting mark that our students will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Your impact is real. Your work matters. And we are deeply thankful for the difference you make every single day.

We are proud to announce that four of our Lady Cougars have qualified for state:
Lily Hill– 4th Place at 120
Aislynn Vroman– State Qualifier at 100
Aspen Beutler– State Qualifier at 115
Juana Hines– State Qualifier at 235
While we didn’t secure a bid for everyone this year, it was certainly not due to a lack of heart, toughness, or perseverance. Every one of our wrestlers left it on the mat. That resilience and character was on full display all weekend.
The grind is real at this point in the season, but this is where growth happens. Proud of how our team competed and represented our program. We’re hopeful to be healthier and ready to roll this weekend.
