Wind River will be hosting the 15th Annual Service Week starting February 5th! This year's recipient is Jeff Bates.
On December 8th, Jeff was in a serious car accident leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. Jeff was life flighted to Billings where he underwent a 6-hour surgery to repair the damage to his neck. He was blessed with some amazing surgeons who were able to repair the disks and vertebra, but the damage to the spinal cord was significant. Jeff spent over a week in ICU at Billings Clinic and was later transferred to Elk Horn Rehabilitation Center in Casper.
The Neurologists are hopeful that Jeff will have a full recovery, however, it will take many months possibly years of PT and OT for Jeff to regain all of his motor functions. Jeff is currently at Elk Horn Rehabilitation and we look forward to his release.
Jeff, his wife Janet, son Austin, and daughter Brooklyn have been part of the Wind River Community for the past 12 years. Janet taught at Wind River Schools and Jeff previously drove bus for the Cougars. Jeff is currently a mechanic at Stotz Equipment and also worked for Harley Davidson for 20 years. He also served on the Volunteer Fire Department in Kinnear, and is currently serving on the fire department in Crowheart.
We are currently accepting donations for our online auction that will open the week of February 5th. Please take a picture of your auction item and include the estimated value with a short description and email them to lnichols@fre6.k12.wy.us or jdavid@fre6.k12.wy.us. Let's step up to help this wonderful family! More updates to come!

Wind River bus drivers got into the Ho-Ho-Holiday spirit today for the last day of school before the Christmas break. What a way to start our students day off with a smile!
Middle School MathCounts competed in Pinedale on Wednesday. Their effort was awesome despite some difficult problems (top overall score had a 40% fail rate!). Congrats to Hirsch Zickefoose who placed 11th overall and advanced to the semifinals of the CountDown Round (a nerve wracking 1 vs. 1 in front of everyone). The next competition is January 12th in Rock Springs.

This is a great opportunity for our students!

There is an email that has been sent to some school districts in Wyoming indicating that explosive devices may have been placed in schools across the state. FCSD #6 has not received this email. Law enforcement has been notified and the word is that the FBI has deemed this to be a hoax. School will continue as normal. We will continue to monitor the situation.
Mr. Zickefoose
