Volleyball Highlights for the week! Maggie Jensen had a phenomenal game this past weekend, passing up and diving for multiple balls that kept the Varsity climbing out of a deficit in set 2 and 3 of their last match. Along with Maggie, Karina Frederick and Natalie Walker capitalized on Maggie's defense and served the team to victory - Karina with 8 serves in a row, and Natalie with 10 serves in a row. Congratulations to both Varsity and JV1 on their wins. Catch the Lady Cougars in action again on Thursday, October 12 in Shoshoni at 5:00 p.m./6:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 14 in Greybull with game times at 12:00/1:00/2:00 p.m. Let's go, Cougars!

Wind River Schools celebrated Indigenous Peoples' Day on October 9th! Maleigha's family brought their drum group and sang for the kindergarten classes. Maleigha brought her jingle dress and mocassins to share also. Lorraine's father, Wade LeBeau, came to share some Shoshone traditions with the first grade classes. Mrs. Rider and Mrs. Gardner read stories written by indigenous authors with students during library and social studies classes. Miss Walker had her high school students research indigenous people and present their history and culture to her classes. We are grateful to all who shared with us!

Volleyball Highlight of the Week: Players, managers, and coaches ran in the inaugural Homecoming Community Fun Run! They completed and competed in a 1.75 mile course. The goal is to challenge ourselves to finish what we start, to encourage each other when it gets tough, and to be proud of doing something out of our comfort zone. And look...they're all smiling at the finish line. Congratulations, Lady Cougars! The Homecoming volleyball game is Saturday at 11:00a/12:00p/1:00p. The theme is "Black Out the Gym." They will also have their fundraiser of yummy baked food items. Thanks for supporting our athletic programs! Photo credit to Airy Olson!
