Wind River High School Student of the Week Senior Calder Johnson has participated in football, basketball and wrestling. He lettered in all three sports and was selected All State in football for 2 years. He is also a member of National Honor Society. We are proud to have Calder as a Wind River Cougar! His consistent dedication to school and all of the extracurricular activities that he is involved in sets him apart from most. He creates a positive environment wherever he goes and that’s why others enjoy being around him. Calder has set future goals for himself and has a plan to make sure those are carried out. We look forward to hearing about his future success. After graduation he plans to serve a mission for his church and then attend the University of Wyoming to pursue a business degree. Outside of school Calder enjoys woodworking, metal working, hunting and playing guitar.

The 8th Grade IT researched, designed and constructed a CO2 race car. They were to apply principles that dealt with acceleration, rate (speed), friction and aerodynamics. The finished cars were put to the test by racing each other in the hallway. Congratulations, Zane David for having the fastest car and Brooklyn Bates for having the best designed car.

Wind River Middle School students are studying the Holocaust starting with informational text and then moving into book studies that blend the historical pieces from the ushmm.com website and the ELA standard that focuses on themes in literature. Pictured are the books that each grade is studying. Why study the Holocaust? "Although unique in time and place, the Holocaust was nonetheless a human event that raises challenging questions: about individual and collective responsibility, the meaning of active citizenship, and about the structures and societal norms that can become dangerous for certain groups and society as a whole" (IHRA) We encourage you to check in with your child(ren) on their classes. Did you know that extensive studies have shown that the more parents engage in at-home conversations with their children about what they are learning, the more they achieve in school?

Middle School Track Managers, Kimber Spens and Crimson Tarness have spent the last two days of practice working on the final patches of the track that needed snow removal. Their work left half the track completely bare and usable for the team to have outdoor practice. Thanks for all of your work! We appreciate you!
