There is something special about 4A West Wrestling. It’s tough. It’s mentally exhausting. It represents the very best of Wyoming. The hardships of every match and the fortitude it takes to earn a win. Our coaching staff could not be more proud of our ladies and the path they fought through to earn a state bid.

We are proud to announce that four of our Lady Cougars have qualified for state:

Lily Hill– 4th Place at 120
Aislynn Vroman– State Qualifier at 100
Aspen Beutler– State Qualifier at 115
Juana Hines– State Qualifier at 235

While we didn’t secure a bid for everyone this year, it was certainly not due to a lack of heart, toughness, or perseverance. Every one of our wrestlers left it on the mat. That resilience and character was on full display all weekend.

The Lander Invitational was a true test. Elite competition pushed us physically, mentally, and emotionally, and showed exactly where we are right now. Even while short-handed due to illness and injury, our athletes showed grit, resilience, and heart.

The grind is real at this point in the season, but this is where growth happens. Proud of how our team competed and represented our program. We’re hopeful to be healthier and ready to roll this weekend.

Placers:
Michael Sparks – Runner-Up 175 JV
Juana Hines – Fourth Place 235 Varsity
Olivia Remacle – Fifth Place 130 Varsity

On Friday Middle School MathCounts traveled to Green River for a practice competition. Individually, the 8th graders (Jayden Bilby, Zoey Klein, and Berkeley Beutler) all scored personal bests with Zoey and Berkeley becoming the 3rd and 4th students in school history to score in the 20s. Zoey represented Wind River in the CountDown round and advanced to the second round with an upset win over the 5th seed. However, the youngsters (Amelia Denke and Eddy Beutler) beat the 8th graders in convincing fashion during the team round. The top 8 scoring students during the regular season now move on to the Chapter Competition (think regionals) in Casper on February 28th.
