This past Friday nineteen Wind River students headed to Rock Springs to think hard and play hard. In the morning and early afternoon they "Thought Hard" as they competed in a math competition against teams from Green River, Pinedale, Lander, Rock Springs, and Evanston. Eddy Beutler became the second MathCounts student in school history to score in the 20s. He finished 7th overall and was able to advance to the second round in the Countdown Round. The team of Eddy Beutler, Berkeley Beutler, Tyson Groenke, and Zoey Klein finished 4th overall out of 28 teams and had the highest score of any previous Wind River team. Also, a huge shoutout to all the mathletes that were willing to participate in a math problem solving competition that is difficult where everyone experiences some level of failure. In the afternoon the students were able to "Play Hard" at the Rock Springs Recreation Center. It was rewarding to see the mathletes character that was on display while at the competition, on the bus ride, as well as the time at the recreation center. The patience/restraint that was shown towards the racket hoarder was impressive! The team finishes up the regular season January 30th in Green River.

Also, we have now had two students in the history of Wind River MathCounts to score in the 20s. Congrats to Eddy for finishing 7th and winning a Countdown Round as well as our top team for finishing 4th and scoring the highest of any previous Wind River Team.

What an incredible weekend for this group of girls. Seven girls, competing against 28 teams, came together and earned an outstanding THIRD place finish at the Battle at the Rock Girls Wrestling Tournament.

Each wrestler stepped onto the mat ready to battle, and it showed. From early morning weigh-ins to the final whistle, this team wrestled with confidence, toughness, and heart. They pushed through tough matches, learned from every round, and cheered each other on nonstop.

Every point mattered, and every athlete contributed to this team finish. So proud of how they competed and even more proud of the team they are becoming.

Individual Results:
🥇 Lily Hill — CHAMPION at 120
🥈 Olivia Remacle — Runner-Up at 130
🥉 Juana Hines — 3rd Place at 235
Aspen Beutler — 4th Place at 115
Isabel Musalem — 5th Place at 190

Wind River Elementary is once again participating in the Trout in the Classroom program sponsored by the Wyoming Game and Fish and Wyoming Trout Unlimited. We received 150 fertilized Rainbow Trout eggs from the Dubois Fish Hatchery and will raise them to the fry stage. Once they reach that stage, we will release them in conjunction with the WGF. Stay tuned for updates and pictures as we watch and help our fish grow!
