Next week is Homecoming Week! There will be a lot of activities and events, so lock in!
The Activities Department is hosting a Dessert Auction on Wednesday, October 7th at Wind River High School @ 7:00pm during the community BBQ! If you are interested in donating a dessert to be auctioned off, please contact Mr. Ghormley through email (tghormley@fre6.k12.wy.us).
Come and show your support for the Wind River Cougars by attending the Community BBQ that begins at 6:00pm and goes till 8:00pm. Everyone is welcome! Stay for the burning of the WR! See you there, and GO COUGARS!
The annual Homecoming Fun Run is on Wednesday, October 7th. Check-in and warmups will begin at 3:40 until 4:10 at the picnic benches in the Grove. The race will begin at 4:30. If you are interested in participating please use the QR code to fill out the registration form.
The Wind River Community BBQ is on Wednesday, October 7th at 6PM and the burning of the WR will follow! Please come and enjoy this time with us! Parents and guardians, your student(s) has been tasked with bringing a specific item for the BBQ
Freshman: Side dishes
Sophomore: Condiments & Utensils (plates, silverware, napkins)
Junior: Baked goods
Seniors: Sheets for the burning of the WR
The BBQ is free to the community but we will be excpeting donations for next year!

Here is the schedule for this weeks athletic events! We need help with tonight's Yth VB game vs Lander @ 4pm. If you are interested in helping, please contact Mr. Ghormley (tghormley@fre6.k12.wy.us). We need 2 line judges, a person to run the clock, and a person to run the book. Any experience NOT REQUIRED! Please note that next week is homecoming and that we have to move the Oct 2 HS VB game to Oct 6th due to the power outage. Its going to be a busy week! Have a great week!

All proceeds from our concession stand and dirty soda station will go toward purchasing new volleyballs and training equipment for our players. With the Power outage scheduled for Oct 2, we are adjusting the HS VB Game against Thermopolis. More details to come. There have been a few Freshman, JH, and Yth additions to the schedule, so please look on the athletics page to see those changes. GO COUGARS!
At the "Run for the Moccasins" on Saturday, Glorian Blackbear finished first, winning the moccasins, while Ellora Walker and Arleigh Murray finished 1-2 in the JV Girls race. Great job runners!
As a reminder, High Plains Power has scheduled a power outage NEXT MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This will affect both Wind River Schools in Pavillion and Crowheart School.
Here is what you need to know about the school day:
- Lunch: Students will get a sack lunch at school.
- Dismissal: The school day will end early at 11:50 AM.
- Buses: Buses will leave the Wind River campus at 12:00 PM.
- Activities: There will be no after school activities or practices.
We are dismissing early so all students can get home and buses can return before the power turns off at 1:00 PM, which will affect all school phones and communications.

This past weekend our Wind River Cougar band joined the 234 members of the University of Wyoming Western Thunder Marching Band along with 1000 other High School and Middle School students from Wyoming and 3 more states playing the halftime show at the University of Wyoming Cowboys football game! THe following students represented us: Anna Adams, Berkley Beutler, Jayden Bilby, Eric Bowcutt, Lilly Cortlett, Trey Loneman, Carson Schooner, and Kimber Spens.

CONGRATULATIONS TO WR XC TEAM!
Our 2 freshmen XC runners have been ranked in the state against the other freshmen and they are making us proud! Way to go Ellora Walker and Colten Christiansen on great effort!
Glorion Blackbear is also featured is this week's Wyoming Boys Cross Country Performer of the Week! Go online and vote for Glorion as the athlete of the week! According to the article, "The 5K went to the sophomore in 18:36.10 at the Buffalo HS Cross Country Invitational, taking first among 40 finishers and pulling away by 65.4 seconds. The performance ranks No. 78 of 571 athletes in MileSplit's database at Buffalo HS XC Course since 2019."
