Our 4th grade students had a wonderful opportunity this week to participate in swimming lessons, and it was an incredible experience for everyone involved. The students not only had a great time in the water, but they also learned valuable swimming and water safety skills that will benefit them for years to come.

We are so proud of the confidence, effort, and enthusiasm our students showed throughout the week!

A special thank you goes to the FCSD#6 school board and Lander Swimming for helping make this opportunity possible for our students. Your support and partnership are truly appreciated, and experiences like these make a lasting impact on our kids.

Mrs. Mickelson and Mr. Kline combined to take the 8th graders up Whiskey Basin to learn about ecosystems, wilderness safety, petroglyphs, and erosion. Students hiked up past the falls, then had the opportunity to fish (only a couple of students caught fish) and then hike to the petroglyphs. Great cross curricular learning through Science and Physical Education!

Our middle school students had the privilege of hearing from Paul Roth, who shared his family’s Holocaust history and personal experiences from this important period. While Paul’s father was able to leave Austria six weeks before the war began, his grandparents tragically did not survive the Holocaust.

As our students read Holocaust historical fiction and autobiographies in ELA class, hearing a firsthand account from a family member brought deeper meaning and understanding to their learning. This experience was especially meaningful to our school community, as Paul has five grandchildren who attend our district.

We are grateful to Paul for sharing his family’s story and helping our students remember the importance of empathy, courage, and ensuring history is never forgotten.

He is pictured with his family (in order): Jasper, Eddy, Berkeley (grandchildren), Paul, Gretta (daughter), Fin, and Aspen (grandchildren).

Dr. Sarita Keller is teaching our students about art museums, art, and being a curator, and will be leading them through some interesting art projects! Not only that, she brought a traveling art exhibit from the UW Art Museum called, Message Received: Transmissions Across Time & Space. If you are at school this week and would like to view it, feel free to stop in the Elementary Art room.

Thanks, Artmobile!

In Social Studies, third grade has been learning about agriculture in Wyoming! To make it that much better, we asked Ruby Ranch to come in and talk ag with us. Students were able to ask them questions about stewardship, challenges, and everyday ranch life. They even brought their bum calf for the students to bottle feed. Thank you to Mike and Jess Ruby for making our learning memorable.
