Graduation Requirements

  • Wind River High School Graduation Requirements​

To earn a high school diploma, students are required to demonstrate proficiency or knowledge of content in the following areas:

  • Students must earn 25 credits as follows:

    • ​English –  4 credits – To include Thematic Literature & Composition, Expository Comp & World Literature, and Senior Capstone

    • Math – 4 credits – To include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II

    • Science – 3 credits – To include General or Physical  Science, Biology, and an approved for graduation Science Elective

    •  Social Studies – 3 credits – To include World History, Geography, U.S. History, and Civics-Economics          

    • ​General Physical Education-Health (1 credit)

    • Fine or Performing Arts (1 credit)

    • Career Technical Education (2 credits)

    • *Electives: (7 credits)

      • Total elective credits required for graduation may include: 

        • ​1 credit for proof of successful completion of the Upward Bound Math/Science Initiative Project or the Upward Bound College Preparatory Program

      • *Any classes that a student takes beyond the above required classes are considered “electives.”

TOTAL – 25 credits                  

*Content areas:  Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Fine Arts, World Languages, Science, Physical Education, Career & Technical, and Health. 

Any alteration to graduation requirements must be approved by the Fremont County School District #6 Board of Trustees.

Scholarship Information

Hathaway Scholarship Program –  The Hathaway Scholarship was established to help Wyoming’s students prepare for and pursue their post-secondary education in the state.

  • The scholarship has its roots in Governor Stanley Hathaway’s 1974 decision to create the state of Wyoming Permanent Mineral Trust Fund. The fund’s income would support state government operations – including higher education in Wyoming.

    In 2005, state lawmakers created a scholarship fund with a $400 million permanent endowment, whose income funds scholarships for qualified Wyoming high school graduates to attend the University of Wyoming or any of the state’s seven community colleges. They honored Hathaway’s many contributions to the state and accomplishments by naming the scholarship program for him.

    The Hathaway Scholarship program has turned Governor Hathaway’s dream of building a better Wyoming into a reality by making attending college possible through merit- and need-based scholarships for qualified Wyoming high school graduates
